Taken by my boyfriend at the beach and edited via "pictureshow" and "instagram". Everything straight from Iphone of course.

my long lost blog
since my discovery of "instagram" nothings been the same. I love the immediacy of the editing, the easy sharing, and the one-click "like" buttons. .. however.... something is lost . it's simply another "facebook way" to get attention. don't get me wrong, I crave the little comments as much as the next guy. but I like my images to exist in solitude sometimes. i want my shadows and reflections to be their own company. to never expect anyone to see how they float and dance on the page. i need my blog like a 8 year-old girl needs her diary. and in my distraction with life's "real photos" i forgot how cathartic it is to stop and remember the other side of who I am. that girl with insecurities about her mis-shaped toes and soccer-player calves, can create a comedic gesture of freedom in imperfection. my shadowed past is set free through Christ: to play and touch and love fully.

Kentucky Pride
This shot is from my dear friend Beth, who shares in my Hipstamatic obsession. I just die for the colors and textures which hold the edges in the shot!

Together as 1
Here my friends Dave and Mike jam on the ol' ivory. Both super talented young men with a passion for coordinating outfits... the Jonas Brothers would be jealous.

c'est magnifique
My friend Sarah sent me this Iphone shot while hopping through Paris. The alien-green backdrop makes it seems as though she has been beamed into the shot from a spacecraft above. Ready or not, here she comes!

**~*~**~*~**~*
This is Amelie. She is the most beautiful 5-year-old with the mind of an artist. When in the presence of little girls, I immediately regain that spirit which makes childhood so precious. I giggle, I stick my tongue out, I do things which adult's would frown upon. And for the duration of the play-date, these girls believe that I am one of them. Allowing me access to this fantasy world which encourages dress-up and make-believe, these little women have no idea how therapeutic it is for me to: PLAY. The reality is: somewhere between training-bras and mascara, we lose that playful freedom which so simply defined our childhood. This ability to put on a pink wig, tiara, tutu, the most sparkly glass slippers, to thereby convince the world that you are no longer "Amelie" but instead a princess who longs for her prince to rescue her from evil. I have to admit, I start to believe it's true.

Sleepy Hollow
This one is a borrow from Brighton's "Lomo" App. I have to admit I was secretly jealous that he had found such a killer app before me. If you blur your eyes a bit, you can see it as paint peeling off a wall.
Here's my "Hipstamatic" version. It's an official duel... Fine -- you win.

My best-friends Hallway
So my best-friend lives in a building which used to serve as an old hotel, complete with "The Shining-esque" hallways. No really-- the endless pathways remind me of those cliche dream-sequences when each door opens up into an alternate universe where the subconscious exists. Although there is danger of choosing the door with a circus-lion in mid-roar or the one where you realize you are naked in front of your entire 5th-grade class, I always find myself walking safely through hers with the friendly "Welcome" mat. The only one on the entire creepy hall. Come to think of it- I'm not sure if I've ever seen another human entering or exiting any of the doors. I've become suspicious of hallways.

Its a Hipstamatic sky
Catching up with some of my archives. Here is the regular camera's shot:
And the "Hipstamatic" version:
I'd like to live in "Hipstamatic World" thanks.

Puddle World
During our ever-so-subtle winters here in California, the rain is something glorious to us. We all talk about it as if there are unicorns jumping out of the sky. I prefer the post-rain puddles which act as portals into another world. Twisting our perception of up and down, we tiptoe around these cloud-ridden pools being careful not to fall into the endless deep which they reflect.
During a break in the rain, I took this shot of my feet and reflection on top of an outdoor stage platform. I imagine the piece of trash in the top left corner as the moon ... and of course, unicorns prancing in the sky.

Mums the Word
The sun was simply pointing to this circular plant outside "Mums the Word" Florist. I have a thing for words taken out of context... makes me want to fill in the blanks. An old man saw me composing this shot with my phone and smiled really big-- people love seeing people appreciating simple beauty. People love to see people stopping to "smell the roses".
